Why I Started This
For the last few years, I was pursuing a Master’s in Theology, which surprised no one more than me. I’d always leaned toward comparative religion and the history of religion, never theology, yet somewhere along the way I dove in headfirst.
When health concerns forced me to put my schooling on hold, I decided to keep the journey going another way; by helping answer the questions people actually have about religion, fairly and honestly.
My Background
I grew up in an evangelical household, fascinated by religion from the start. As a teenager that fascination turned to questioning, and for a time I became a militant atheist; angry, uninformed, and more than a little annoying.
The fascination never left, though. I explored other faiths, even converting to Judaism, before finding my way back to a different kind of Christianity; and to a degree in Religious Studies.
My Approach
Scholarly yet accessible, thoughtful, respectful, and open to dialogue. I aim for the middle ground; a moderate’s posture; and I keep my own beliefs out of it to keep my biases in check.
Underneath it all is a single idea: understanding. With understanding comes respect, which is what makes these conversations worth having.
